THE NEXT GENERATION OF CUSTOM CARBON FIBER TUNING LEVERS
Advanced Lightweight Technology
Our levers use a special made, low profile 3/4"OD ultra high modulus carbon core.
LOAD RATING: 130 million lbs. per square inch
The Wood Is Just For Looks & Style: - )

5x more stiff than steel at 1/2 the weight

This carbon fiber core will only flex just before breaking point. At 130 Million lbs. per square inch, even superman would tremble.

we use a premium aerospace-grade aluminum head & hardened black oxide steel alloy tip & tip insert.

Our Exclusive Premium ©️RC-Flex Finish.
I use a special mix of 2-part epoxy & special cyanoacrylate which adds a hard protective coating finish with minimal flexibility over the wood substrate. It’s a finish I’ve been working on perfecting.
I also make natural wood levers - less protection but more wood feel.
TECHNICIAL
OUR CARBON FIBER CORE
-
Made in the United States
-
We use a special made, 3k twill Ultra High Modulus Carbon Fiber core. This has been rated at 130msi (million pounds per square inch) when loaded on a radial axis.
OUR ALUMINUM HEADS
-
Made in the United States
-
We use aircraft-grade 7075 black anodized aluminum for our heads.
-
Our heads have a lip fore of the tip. The lip adds more mass to the head to increase rigidity at the tip insert conjunction. We currently offer a 15˚, 12.5˚, & 10˚ head angle.
OUR TIP INSERTS
-
Made in the United States
-
Our hexagonal inserts are made from a high grade steel alloy which is case hardened to increase the HRC (hardness on the Rockwell scale for metals) to the perfect strength for our application. The core is slightly soft (soft being a relative term here as it’s these are a very hard metal alloy) which is hardened to give rigidity to the exterior and reduce the chance for mechanical failure/fracture.
-
Our inserts thread onto our tips using a 3/8 30 thread. The portion which threads into our heads is a US Standard 3/8 24 thread.
-
A 7/16” socket can fit over the current inserts, in conjunction with a #11 tip wrench from schaff or tip wrench from Pianotek inserted into the star pattern of the tip, to remove the tip from the insert in a counter-clockwise manner.
OUR TIPS
-
Made in the United States
-
Our tips are made from a high grade steel alloy which is case hardened to increase the HRC (hardness on the Rockwell scale for metals). The core is slightly soft (soft being a relative term here as it’s a very hard metal) which the exterior is hardened to give rigidity to the exterior and reduce fatigue/ chance for mechanical failure/fracture.
-
Our threads are a modified 3/8 30 thread to accommodate multiple tuning levers (Cassotto Levers, Reyburn, Faulk, some Fujan, some Watanabe, and some & Hale heads)
-
Our star pattern is made from an EDM process (electrical discharge machine). Sparks and a special liquid (dielectric) heat the metal to give the desired shape with extremely tight tolerances.
-
We currently offer a size #1 (for many Asian pianos and newer steinways), #2 (also works well on Asian & American pianos) & #3 (works well for oversized pins and American pianos. The greater the #, the further the tuning pin goes down onto the tuning pin or further to the becket. Our tuning tips are modeled off the BKB fit with our own modifications
-
Not all tuning pins are created equal. There is no perfect tip for all pianos.
OUR RC© FLEX FINISH
-
Made in the United States
-
We source the 2-part finish in two US states
-
We use a 2-part epoxy finish in conjunction with a special cyanoacrylate (ca) glue. This allows our ©RC Flex Finish to sustain light blows without heavy damage to the substrate (wood) and has a great wear resistance to normal use. It offers further protection to the wooden shell of our levers.
WOOD SELECTION
-
We source our woods in multiple US states - Woods vary from domestic to exotic
-
I have a very large supply of select premium woods we can custom cut to cater the appearance to the technician’s liking.
-
I can also color/shade wood using various techniques I’ve developed over the years.
OUR STYLES & LENGTHS
-
We currently offer 4 styles of lever - Classic (ball shape), Linear (straight shaft with flares), Sidekick (shorted lever great for tight spaces), & Stick (very narrow diameter lever for those who choose a thin feel). These are all fully customizable.
OUR BALL SIZES
-
I recommend a 1 7/8" ball (smaller hands), 2 1/4" (average size hands), 2 3/8" (most chosen size), and 2 5/8" (large hands). I can also color/shade wood using various techniques I’ve developed over the years.
PROTECTION & WARRANTY
-
Tote bags made in the United States
-
Our tote bags fit levers under the 13” length. Our warranty covers any mechanical failure of the carbon fiber core or wooden shell only for a period of 5 years from the date of the purchase to the original owner. The aluminum heads, tips, & tip inserts are not covered under the warranty. In the event of any failure however, please do not hesitate to contact Randy directly at cassottolevers@gmail.com or 860-307-2096 so that we may make things right.
