Bass strings are comprised of a steel core surrounded by one or two layers of copper windings. The larger the diameter of both the core and copper windings, the slower the string will vibrate due to the larger mass. Since pitch is measured in Hertz (Hz), we can determine that the speed of an object’s movement is directly related to how high or low in Hz a frequency of that object is.
