This silent & energy efficient system controls the relative humidity at 42% when all you do is add water every-other-week, on average.
System Benefits
1. Keeps pianos in tune longer
The dual humidification AND dehumidification system works together, minute by minute, to sustain a relative humidity of 42% inside the piano’s soundboard area. By doing this, it greatly reduces expansion and contraction of the soundboard, thus leading to a far more stable tuning over periods of time.
2. Reduces Corrosion
Consistent relative humidity (42% for pianos is optimal) reduces the chance for corrosion on the various metals inside the piano’s belly and action.
3. Completely Silent
With no moveable parts, the system is so smart that it employs the use of a thermostat which determines when to add or remove moisture from the soundboard area. There are NO noisy fans that push air over a heating or cooling generator - just the right amount of heat in the right areas.
4. Never Needs Emptying
Room dehumidifiers have been known to need emptying on a daily basis. With the Piano Life Saver System, you'll NEVER have to empty water unless you are packing the piano up to move from one home to another.
5. Energy Efficient
The system uses a 15W heating element with 2 wicks draped over it which both sit in a water tank (for the humidifier) and shuts off when the relative humidity reaches 43%. Once 43% sets in, a 25W & a 36" 38W (or 48" 50W) heating element removes moisture by elevating the temperature around the rods. This reduces the relative humidity since higher temperatures can hold more moisture before achieving the saturation point.
