The Piano Life Saver Humidity Control System

The benefits of such a system far outweigh the cost.  Humidity Control is the key to tuning stability and piano protection.  While controlling room humidity levels at 42% can be daunting, the Piano Life Saver System makes it easy!

Longer Lasting Tunings

Consistent humidity inside the "belly" of the piano, or soundboard, keeps the soundboard movement to a minimum, resulting in less string tension change.

Improves Performance

A stabile humidity surrounding a piano can greatly improve how a piano’s inner action parts work.  Since most modern and vintage pianos are equipped with hardwood actions, they can change when exposed to unstable environments.

Totally Silent System

The humidifier portion of the system disperses vapor into the air silently by utilizing evaporation from a water tank.  2 wicks, called pads, are draped over a 25 watt heating element.  The pads sit in a small water tank.  When the system calls for moisture, the top surface of the pads are heated with the 25 watt heating element which, in turn, diffuses the right amount of moisture into the soundboard area.  Once 43%RH has been achieved, 1 or 2 primary dehumidification rods heat up to increase the temperature inside the piano cavity which, consequently, reduces the relative humidity.  It does all this silently, efficiently, and economically.

Energy Efficient

Grand pianos utilize (1) 15 watt heating element for the purpose of adding humidity.  There are also typically 2 other dehumidification rods that run when the humidification portion is automatically shut down, a primary 38 watt or 50 watt primary rod heat up in conjunction with a 25 watt dehumidification rod to elevate the temperature.

Vertical pianos utilize (1) 50 watt primary rod internally or (3) 18 watt primary rods (for backside systems)

Reduces Corrosion

High humidity levels inside a piano can corrode tuning pins & strings, leading to costly repairs.

Helps Reduce Sticking Keys

Expansion in joints both inside the action and keys can cause keys to stick or slow down.

Helps Resale Value

A piano equipped with a Piano Life Saver System can help sustain or even increase the overall value, due to its protection capabilities and main purpose; protection.
