Important Message Before You Use Your Parts

UPDATE:  5/30/23 Admittedly, we over-hardened a small handful of our steel tip inserts so much that they became brittle and broke during regular tuning.  Rest assured, we have made the proper corrections in April 2023 on all future inserts.

Step 1.
Installing the tip.

Simply twist the tip onto the insert and hand tighten until the two parts feel snug, making sure there is no debris inside the threads of the tip or on the outside of the inserts threads.  If there is a snag, blow both parts thoroughly.

Thread the insert & tip onto the head by hand and using the pianotek or schaff tip wrench, you can tighten down the parts with moderate force.  While the head is aerospace aluminum, you do not want to muscle or crank down the insert as hard as you physically can.  It is aluminum, afterall :)

Step 2.
Start Tuning!

Please Note:  This lever has been engineered to be lightweight at the head/tip conjunction, as well as easy to remove the tip insert from the head with the pianotek or schaff tip wrench.  NEVER place your lever on the ground and stomp on it to remove the insert & tip.  You should not need that!

This lever is not recommended for repinning pinblocks or unscrewed tuning pins from blocks.  This is due to the threading used at the head conjunction.  Your insert will most likely come loose.

IF you do need to keep your insert in your head with more friction, you can add s few drops of threadlocker blue (not red) to the threads.

5 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Each CASSOTTO Lever comes with a 5 year limited warranty, under normal use, for the wooden body and carbon fiber core.  The Taffijn tips, Cassotto aluminum heads,  Cassotto aluminum & steel inserts, Cassotto Prestige tips, Cassotto Neo tips, & damage to the exterior finish are excluded from the warranty.  In the event of a ANY malfunction, however, please email Randy Cassotto at cassottolevers@gmail.com.  If the wooden body or carbon fiber core malfunctions at any time in the first 5 years of ownership (segmented woods are excluded), your equipment can be shipped to:  88 On Pitch     149 High Valley Dr.     Canton, CT 06019  (shipping charges apply).   If the lever's body or carbon fiber core is irreparable, a new lever will be provided to you.  Obvious neglect or deliberate damage will void any and all parts of this warranty.  Keep your lever away from high heat, extreme cold, and liquids.  Keep all metals (inserts, Neo tips, Prestige tips, & aluminum heads) away from water and keep tips in its wooden case, if you've already purchased one from us.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AIRCRAFT GRADE ALUMINUM
Black anodization has been added to the head/tip inserts for aesthetics.  During regular use, markings may appear and/or the black anodization may come off.  If this happens, your lever should continue to work as intended as confirmed by metals engineers.  Use a tissue or soft cloth, wipe away any residue, discard the cloth, and wash/clean hands as necessary.  Do not ingest any parts or biproduct of any materials from levers and always wash hands before consuming food or putting any body parts in mouth.

CAN I REMOVE THE TIP FROM THE TIP INSERT?
If you must remove the tip, do not place your lever on the ground and stomp on it.  Use the #11 tip wrench from Schaff and you should be able to remove the tip from the insert, without placing it on the ground, using hand/arm force by rotating the tip counter-clock-wise until it comes loose from the insert.  If your tip is loosening from the insert or the insert is loosening from the head during tuning, DO NOT try and over-tighten the threads.  This can cause permanent damage and result in breakage.  Instead, you can apply a few drops of BLUE Threadlock to the threads.  DO NOT USE RED as the bond may be permanent.  For magnetic tip release owners, it is strongly recommended to leave one designated tip on with a single designated insert.  Removing steel tips from aluminum tip inserts can increase your chance of damaging the aluminum threading.

THE TIP INSERT / HEAD FOR MAGNETIC RELEASE HEAD
A tiny gap of approximately .001” (0.00254 centimeters) is standard between the tip insert & head to allow the tip insert to be removed from the head without the use of tools.  You can add 1 (or 2 if needed) small, square pieces of traveling tape to an inside wall(s) of the head (Schaff product #6025) to reduce or remove the gap.

CLEANING
These levers are finished with blend of a 2 part epoxy & special ca.  Staying away from the metals, use a soft, dampened cloth with soap & water over the finished wood & carbon fiber core.  Alcohol is acceptable but may scratch the finish.  You can also use Meguiars #17 & #10 for light surface scratches & follow the manufacturer's instructions.  Cleaners with silicones will void the warranty.   KEEP LEVER AWAY FROM HIGH HEAT.  Temperatures above 110˚ may cause the 2-part epoxy finish to soften.*88 On Pitch takes no responsibility for bodily injury or property damage caused by any use of any of the CASSOTTO Levers, metals, or equipment supplied, nor does 88 ON PITCH claim to provide any cure or relief for any ailment or disease. ©2023
